2000 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week Eight
"UNDEFEATED: adj, unbeaten, without a loss
WINLESS: adj, having no victories" --Webster
My how things have changed. Two big upsets this weekend. One team used to be undefeated. One was beaten by a team that used to be winless. Just when it seemed 110 people had the National Football League all figured out, it all fell apart. Have the Bengals changed their stripes? They go up against Cleveland this week. Can you say two-in-a-row?
"I wouldn't normally pick a team with the words 'pitts' and 'urgh' in their name but I'm hoping there will be a big upset for Denver." --Gomez
And that there was. We did not have another perfect weekend. 34 contestants took a hit, 32 of them thanks to the Bengals. The leader board was cut almost in half. And we lost some of our fellow soldiers. The Broncos bucked the Beck Family, Cattoggio, Diako, Ducey~E, Forte, Lund~C, Manoux~Ja, McCabe~B, Mootsey, Roth, and Sullivan~J, while St. Louis rammed Manoux~P to death.
The standings...
00 LOSS -- 5 World Series Champs
01 LOSS -- 50 Division Champs
02 LOSS -- 43 Wild Card Teams
03 LOSS -- 33 Boston Red Sox
We have reached the heart of the football season. And in case you hadn't noticed, this doesn't get easier as we go along. We have also dropped under 100 remaining contestants. The plot is thickening.
Picks are due by you-know-when. No you-know-what type of picks.
