2000 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week Fourteen
"I saved them for a special occasion... Tampa Bay!" --Gomez
It was a good week to have saved a team. If you were clever enough to have Tampa Bay or Jacksonville in your arsenal this week, you fared quite well. Tampa Bay beat Dallas for the first time ever. Jacksonville held Cleveland to only two first downs. I don't know how they do it, but those Browns just keep getting worse.
"Hanging on by a thread. One bad pick and I'm out...just a flippant quip on your weekly email. Another name on your electronic tombstone. Same goes for the Redskins. If they don't win this week...they don't make the playoffs. Desperation smells so sweet in December." --White (RIP)
That's the smell of death, I'm afraid. If you weren't on the bandwagon, you were in dangerous waters. (Mixed metaphor?) Cincinnati and San Francisco played well. Yes, Cincinnati. But the same could not be said of Washington, St. Louis, New Orleans, and Oakland. All played pretty evenly-matched teams and all took a loss. That amounted to 11 losses suffered by the pool.
"Was a pleasure, wish I could have hung in just a little longer. I'll be waiting and ready for the next run next season. Good luck to all the survivors." --Tabata (RIP)
Smell that death? I'm afraid it's ta-ta to Tabata. Goodbye Gamble and Geyer. Wish you well, White. Outta here O'Connell. And riding the rail is Rice~R.
The standings...
00 LOSS -- 2 Doctoral Candidates
01 LOSS -- 15 College Graduates
02 LOSS -- 33 DeVry Students
03 LOSS -- 81 High School Dropouts
"I demand a recount!" --Mollen~T (RIP)
The recounting is nearly over. Three weeks remain until the end of the regular season. Have you saved the right teams?
Picks are due before Saturday morning at dawn. They will be posted after Saturday morning at dawn. And nothing smells more like death than a repeat pick. Don't do it! You've come too damn far.
