2000 Football Pool Weekly Update
Playoffs Week Two
"Thanks Donovan McBad." --Lund~K (RIP)
The Philadelphia Eagles' Donovan McNabb never found a rhythm on Sunday. And the New York Football Giants marched right over him. It was the marquee match-up in the 2000 Football Pool. It had to result in two deaths, and that it did. Congratulations to Kevin Lund for making it this far.
The other death was the swan song of the Manoux Family. Four months and 70 dollars ago, the entire brood of Manouxs entered the football pool. With the Eagles defeat on Sunday afternoon, the 21st and final Manoux loss came to pass. They were all valiant soldiers and have earned a small memorial. They can also be found quite amusingly on the home page of www.manoux.com.
Meanwhile, back amongst the living, the screws are tightening as the Superbowl approaches.
The standings...
00 LOSSES -- 00 Porsches
01 LOSSES -- 02 BMWs
02 LOSSES -- 07 Toyotas
03 LOSSES -- 122 Kias
"Forgot to mention my extensive knowledge of Poe and the Raven are, sad to say, a Simpsons episode." --Uliana
Below are the remaining contestants and what teams they still have available. As you can see, Uliana, Weene, and the Dickshot Girls have all painted themselves into a corner. They have only NFC teams remaining. That means they will definitely take a loss in one of the two remaining weeks. The other six contestants do have a little variety...

The deadline this week is still FRIDAY at dawn. This will be your final pick of the season. After that, your fate will be sealed. Choose wisely.
And I don't know if I have ever mentioned this, but: NO REPEAT PICKS.
Ouch.
