2001 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week One
Mourning in America
The events of the week may make a goofy football pool update seem inappropriate, almost insensitive. I mean no offense. Let me just do a quick recap of the weekend...
"I am a big fan of all St. Paul adjacent cities, so my pick is either the Austin Spambakers or the Minnesota Vikings. Ah heck, gimme Minnesota" --Rice~G
Should have gone with the Spambakers. Minnesota was this weekend's loss leader. Nearly 60 took a hard Week One hit with the Norsemen.
"It doesn't get much easier than this: Baltimore" --Young~F
A total of 69 players took their first loss in Week One. That's a lot. Meanwhile, 132 people didn't. That's a lot, too.
The standings...
1st place -- 132 Contestants
2nd place -- 69 Contestants
"At last, the second annual 'Weene Foundation' pledge drive is underway!" --Weene (Last year's sole winner)
We topped off at 201 people. That's 200 challengers to Weene's throne. Good luck to you all.
And as you may know, this weekend's slate of games has been at least postponed, possibly canceled. The football pool will continue business as usual in Week Three. If you have made a Week Two pick already, it will be taken off the board.
All of our prayers are with the families who have been intimately affected by this tragedy.
"God bless us, everyone." --Tiny Tim
Amen.
