2001 Football Pool Weekly Update

Week Ten

I knew you guys would get the hang of this eventually. Another week, another slew of winners. It getting so that almost all you have to do is make a pick and you advance. Of course, there are still those, like Mr. Lozano, who don't.

"Rules are rules ...but I'm not happy about it. Next time I see you have your boxing gloves with you." --Lozano (RIP)

We have lost only nine people in the last two weeks but a whopping FOUR of them went out because they sent their pick in too late. Is the rule too complicated? Does cloud cover cause confusion? Has there been an eclipse I don't know about? A nuclear winter? Volcanic ash? If the sun is up on Saturday, you have missed the deadline. I know this doesn't apply to the majority of players, but I believe one missed deadline is still one too many. Be vigilant.

"I can't believe I'm going to say this out loud: I'm willing to wager my chance at $18,000 that New England will win a football game this weekend. That just doesn't sound right." --Taylor

The NFL is upside-down, but as long as everyone in the pool is, too, there are wins to be had. Unless you picked Oakland. The fearsome Raiders were not so fearsome in the Pacific Northwest and resulted in five losses, two of them season-ending: McAteer and Sheron.

I am leaving town at dawn on Friday and not returning until late Sunday night. If you want your pick posted on the website, submit it before you go to bed on Thursday. (The official deadline is still Saturday.) I will post the remaining picks when I return. Don't be late!!
