2001 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week Thirteen
Three in a row.
In the Ducey Pool, that's not a phrase you want to hear. Back in September, it meant a quick departure for Boltin, Breil, LaRose, and Sood. Friends, we barely knew ye.
But this week, it meant the sudden and surprise departure of two players who were in a 6-way tie for first only three weeks ago. Dillman went the way of the Sood. And perhaps even more startling was the quick fall of Sullivan~N -- a perennial visitor to the playoffs and the only remaining champion in the pool. With her demise, the stage is set for a new era. Who will rise to the occasion?
"I warned you all not to trust Washington." --Andrew (RIP)
Speaking of "in a row," this was the sixth straight week that Washington has been responsible for losses in the football pool. That is easily a record and I dare say will not be challenged any time soon. How can a team look so bad, then play so well, then fall apart all over again? The answer may be Dallas. They have their own "in a row" going. Nine straight victories over Washington. Even Tony Banks couldn't overcome history.
Speaking of history, 15 more people are part of it. Besides Dillman and Sullivan~N, we also released Berg, Bishop, Carey, Cattoggio Jr, Crudo, the Dickshot Sisters, Dresden, Levy, Lund~C, Manoux~C, Dr. Mollen, Silverstein~Mar, and Stendardi.
The standings...
00 LOSS -- 0 AOLs
01 LOSS -- 4 Earthlinks
02 LOSS -- 26 Prodigys
03 LOSS -- 171 @Homes
I appreciate the outpouring of support for me and my internet service.
"Does this mean I'm back in the pool?" --Vaughan (and many others)
"Just in case you lost the results up until now, I haven't got any strikes against me. And let me know if you need any help piecing the rest of the field back together, I have a really good memory." --Taylor (RIP)
For the record, the website is not run by @Home (of course, NOTHING is run by them now) so there was never any need to fear, or hope, for a webpage meltdown. I just couldn't access it from my home for a while there. But Adelphia and I have become fast friends and all is right with the internet.
Picks are due soon. Get them to me at ducey@adelphia.net.
