2002 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week Two
"There's an old handicapping theory that says: "When in doubt take the team from the city with the better zoo." Ever seen anyone in a t-shirt that says "Houston Zoo"? Me either. SAN DIEGO." --Young~F
If you're stressing out over the football pool, studying teams and rosters and coaches and schedules, I just thought I would pass along the strategies of some successful pickers.
"San Diego will win because Houstons is a restaurant, and they are too busy offering delicious steaks to effectively train." --Rice~G
It can be that simple. Just remember that God is in church on Sunday, not watching football...
"I've been questioning my belief in God lately. He told me to pick Tennessee. I think He's guessing." --Gomez
Where's your God now?
"I know I'm supposed to save the really good teams for later but last year I saved St. Louis and got 3 strikes before I had the chance to pick them! So screw it!" --Graham~K
There definitely was some screwing. But the Rams came out on the losing end. Again. All told, 74 people took a hit. That divides the football pool almost in half. 137 with no losses, 134 with at least one loss. If the pool ended today, 137 people would double their money. But, of course, it does not. There are many more unpredictable weeks to go.
The standings...
1st place: 00 LOSS -- 137 contestants
2nd place: 01 LOSS -- 109 contestants
3rd place: 02 LOSS -- 25 contestants
Submit your pick before 10am Saturday morning. Do not repeat a pick you have already made. That will count as a loss.
And just a reminder, the team you pick has to WIN. With all of these exciting overtime games, I fear there may be a tie in our future. If your team TIES, you get a LOSS. Tying is NOT the same as winning. Just ask the Russian judge.
And in other matters, if you want to see a little Ducey on TV, tune in to Sabrina the Teenage Witch starting this week. It airs Fridays at 8:30pm on the WB.
