2002 Football Pool Weekly Update

Week Six

"Week 6 -- revised pick"

It's always interesting when someone changes a pick mid-week. It's like changing your flight when you travel. What if the plane I was going to be on goes down and I just saved my life? Or, conversely, what if the plane I just switched to goes down and I just made a fatal decision?

Sometimes the fates smile on you and everything works out OK no matter what:
"Buffalo Bills" --Roberts, Tuesday 5:46am
"Please change my week 6 pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers." --Roberts, Tuesday 12:17pm

Sometimes there is simply a bullet out there with your name on it and there is nothing you can do:

"Changing my pick to the New York Football Giants." --Cook, Friday

And yet sometimes, oh sometimes, you leave the cool comfort of Drew Bledsoe's arm and find yourself in bed with Kerry Collins:

"I'd like to change my pick to New York Giants" --Quaintance~J, Friday

That is when it really hurts.

"My strategy has always been to try and stay away from the pack, lest I get swooped up in a tsunami of one big upset. That plan has resulted in an outstanding 2 losses in a row. Therefore, I will get in line with the rest of the lemmings, picking BUFFALO." --Goldstein

Never before has it been so beneficial to be on the bandwagon. And so dangerous to be off it. This week St. Louis surprised again, God bless 'em. And the Giants are still the Giants. The result was 61 losses, 14 of them fatal. We say goodbye this week to Bishop, Carrell, Davidson, Jacobson~R, Kessler~G, Manoux~An, McAteer~Kei, McCabe~B, Meyers~L, Rashkin, Rich~E, Silverstein~Mat, Winer~Jay, and my sister, White~A. (It's a tough season to be related to the guy running the pool.)
