2002 Football Pool Weekly Update
Week Fifteen
"Jill and I are picking the Jets. Yuck." --Sylwesters (RIP)
Double yuck. For the second week in a row, the top pick has taken a tumble. It's tough when you have to count on a mediocre team to beat a slightly worse team, but that is the challenge of these final regular-season weeks.
"My week 15 pick: St. Louis Rams. I hate the Rams." --Paulson~R
Perhaps the Rams will now hold a special place in Paulson's heart. They were the only one of the top FOUR picks to win. The three major upset resulted in 71 losses in the pool. Half of them were fatal. Good-bye to Barley, Beck, Benedict, Bildstein, Branchaud, Cattoggio Sr, Corboy, Costabile, Crudo, DelFavero, Doyle, Durham, Heichman, Hurwitz, Kazan, Kelly~J, Kramer, Lazarus, Lennox~J, Lennox~S, Logue Kids, Mao, Meyers~H, Mollen~T, Namihira, Novak, Rich~C, Roberts, Schmoll, Schoenstein, Stambaugh, Sylwester Sisters, and 1999 Co-Champ Cook.
The standings...
00 LOSS -- 0 Skyscrapers
01 LOSS -- 15 Towers
02 LOSS -- 54 Huts
03 LOSS -- 202 Cardboard Boxes
And yes, I have fallen by the wayside as well. That Michael Vick apparently can't win every game all by himself. I outlasted my daughter, my father, and my sister. I now cheer on my mother, my aunts, my brother-in-law, my uncle, and my cousin. And I remind my potentially soon-to-be rich relatives: My birthday is January 21.
No repeats. It will make you unhappy. Also, do NOT submit a pick for any Saturday game. It is not allowed.
Merry Christmas. I will be back on the 27th. Picks for next week will be posted on Saturday as usual.
ducey (RIP)
