Weekly
Update
Week Six
"I dated a girl who loved the Titans. Then I broke up
with her." --Goldstein (Ten)
So not only is chivarly dead, but it appears that karma
is too. Goldstein and many others rode a good-old-fashioned bandwagon
to an easy
victory
in Week Six. No one on the leader board picked a losing team. That is
very impressive. I am glad to see that everyone is finally getting the
hang of it.
"Baaa-aa-aahh. I'm bleating, you see. Like a sheep." --Keller
(Ten)
And if you can't come up with your own winning picks, just
join the pack. It really is a very simple pool. Now go out there and
enjoy the rest of the season.
Unless, of course, you tried to outwit, outplay, or outlast the leaders
with a slightly less bandwagon-y pick. Those folks did not fare
as well, as the Jets joined the list of teams who refuse to be pushed
around every week,
Carolina stayed on the list of teams with no losses, and Dallas showed
it is the class of the NFC East. (And when Dallas is the class of anything,
you know it is an unusual season.) We lost 9 players this week. It is
just a smattering, but it is sad when any one has to leave us. (I'll
say this one more time: Those names are at the bottom of the big board,
click on the tombstone to go
to the graveyard.)
Current standings...
00 LOSS -- 33 Phone-a-Friend
01 LOSS -- 133 50/50
02 LOSS -- 138 Ask the Audience
03 LOSS -- 87 Out of Lifelines
And from the "no-sooner-do-I-mention-it-but-somebody-falls
victim-to-it" files, Visconti~D fell from the leaderboard last week without
picking a single losing team. How? you ask. Sadly, she picked the 49ers
in both Week 1 and Week 5. As the person who spotted this mistake put
it:
"The delicious irony is that the team she most unwisely
picked twice was the decidedly mediocre SF 49ers; that she got two 'wins'
from this looming trainwreck is a minor miracle." --Football Pool Watcher
Those two wins have become
one
win
and
one
loss
for Visconti~D. Let that be a lesson to everyone.
Be careful out there, folks.
