For those bold enough to pick Washington, that would have been true. But a high-powered offense playing at home against a rookie quareterback may not have been bold enough. Alas, fickle fortune.

Oh, the irony.

Week One is in the books. Some things to keep in mind moving forward...

Do not repeat a pick during the regular season. The website will NOT stop you from making that mistake. It is up to you to keep an eye on your previous picks.

Do not miss the pick deadline of 9am Sunday. It is firm. And many excuses have been tried and failed in the past. Broken internet, vacation, mad spouse, births, deaths (yes, even deaths) -- all are no good. You can pick the entire season tomorrow if you want, so there's no reason to miss a deadline during the season.

BoardNames have gone through their annual clean-up. Check your name on the big board if you have trouble logging in. Specifically, all first names have been either eliminated or shortened to a squiggle and a letter.

And if you can't find your name in the first table, like Kahl and Quaintance, you may have taken a loss in Week One and now live in the next table down. It is less green, more yellow. And more sad. And yet... last year one of the pool winners took a loss in week one, so don't give up yet!!
