2nd-Chance Football Pool -- Official Rules
PRE-REQUIREMENTS: Each contestant must:
ENTRY FEE: Each contestant must mail a check for $50 with the "Pay to:" line left blank to enter.
RULES (basically a short Ducey Pool with only one strike & a tie-breaker)
If more than one person picks the Superbowl winner, there are two tie-breakers, in this order:
Bonus Pick must be submitted during Week Two, and the tie-breaker total must be submitted by the deadline of the AFC/NFC Championship weekend.
A "Correct Bonus Pick" is a team that wins its game that week, AND the player does NOT pick that team again for the rest of the playoffs. So, the two ways to have made an "incorrect Bonus Pick" are either 1. the team loses, or 2. the player has to pick that team later in the playoffs. An incorrect Bonus Pick does NOT eliminate the player from the pool. The Bonus Pick CAN be a repeat pick from Week One.
All of the contestants with the winning Superbowl team qualify for the tie-breakers, executed as follows...
Tie-Breaker #1: If only one contestant has a correct Bonus Pick in Week Two, that player wins the pot. If more than one player has a correct Bonus Pick, only those players are considered eligible for the Tie-Breaker #2. If no players have a correct Bonus Pick, all players are eligible for Tie-Breaker #2.
Tie-Breaker #2: Whichever remaining contestant is closest to the correct tie-breaker point-total wins the pot. If more than one contestant is closest to the total, they split the pot. (Over ties under. For example, if the total is 40, picks of 41 and 39 would both be winners.)
NFL decisions
on wins and losses will be official.
If, for some reason, a picked game is not completed AND not re-scheduled, all picks
from that weekend will be thrown out.
If a picked game is not completed and then made up at a later date from the
beginning, each contestant will be allowed to change his pick for the make-up
game. The deadline
will be Saturday 12:30pm
PST if
the
league is making up an entire weekend of games (as in 2001), or 1 hour prior
to kickoff if they are making up only a game or two.
For weeks one and two, picks will be posted on the website as soon as they are
made. For Championship weekend, pick and point-total
will
remain
hidden until after the deadline.
