From O.S., familiar music: It's a world of laughter, a world of tears... Here comes an ice cream truck. The VENDOR leans out the window.

The crowd seems indecisive. Just then, another siren. Surfer #1 is the first one in line to buy ice cream as an AMBULANCE arrives. We see a handful of other spectators run to join him as two PARAMEDICS rush in with a gurney and start working on the boy.

ANGLE ON

Surfer #1, as he takes an ice cream bar from the curious Vendor.

Just then the surfer is interrupted by the roar of an engine. He and the vendor turn to see a NEWSVAN.
